Paul Robinson admitted he did not think he would play in the Premier League again after making an impressive return to action in Burnley’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday.
“When I made the decision to come back, I couldn’t envisage I would get the chance to play in the Premier League again,” Robinson told the club website.
“It’s like riding a bike. It’s two years since I played a competitive game, four years since a Premier League game but I made the first save and it was like ‘that feels really good’.
“I just enjoyed it. It was a no-lose situation for me. We weren’t expecting to do anything and I personally wasn’t expected to do anything.”
Even though Aguero scored twice to help City win 2-1, Burnley boss Sean Dyche was full of praise for Robinson.
“He’s different class,” Dyche said. “I see him in training every day. He’s as lean and fit as he’s ever been, he’s mentally clear on what he needs to do and there’s a calmness to him.
“His save in the first half is top drawer. Forget about age. It wasn’t a major decision for me.”
